This position supports the agency in the planning, management, and operations of Arkansas State Parks’ 54 locations. This position is responsible for performing various duties associated with the Arkansas State Parks Information Management System and Geographic Information System (GIS), including feature development, map production, data entry and analysis, web application development, and database maintenance. Applicant should have experience working within the ArcGIS Online environment using ArcGIS applications, Experience Builder, Python, Arcade, HTML, CSS, and Microsoft SQL. Routinely locates and records park assets and resources using construction drawings, surveys, legal descriptions, field measurements, and various remote sensing methods. Applicant must have the ability to work independently or within a team environment. Working knowledge of GIS concepts, including experience with ArcGIS Pro, Spatial Analyst, digital orthoimagery, and cartographic standards is required. Applicant will be required to perform tasks in an outdoor environment, including GPS data collection, resource and asset mapping, and other field work. Assists the Sr. GIS Analyst in the geospatial support of park operations, emergency services, planning & development, program services, marketing & revenue, and shared services. Occasional in-state travel may be required. Applicants with education and/or experience in Geography, Recreation, Natural Resources, or related fields are preferred.

Applicants must meet or exceed these qualifications: The formal education equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, information technology or a related field; plus three years of geographic information data collection and compilation experience. Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, except for certification or licensure requirements, upon approval of the qualifications review committee.
