Anthony Calamito is a Solutions Architect for Boundless, and is concurrently filling the role of Federal Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Anthony has over 12 years of experience supporting the implementation and advancement of GIS for many organizations in both the Defense and Intelligence communities. At Boundless, Anthony helps customers design and implement enterprise solutions with the OpenGeo Suite. He also serves as a bridge between customers, professional services and engineering to ensure development tasks and enhancements are documented and properly meet customer requirements. His work also includes identifying and qualifying business development opportunities with industry partners and academia.
Anthony is also a LocationTech Steering Committee member. In that capacity, he helps to identify, develop and evaluate advanced location aware technologies that are both commercially-friendly and open source.
Prior to joining Boundless, Anthony worked as a Senior Engineer for APEX Expert Solutions, and served as the GIS Administrator for a SOCOM element in North Carolina. He was tasked with implementing and maintaining a hybrid enterprise GIS of both Esri and Boundless software.
Anthony spent 6 years on staff with Esri as a Lead Solutions Engineer in Northern Virginia performing pre-sales support, product presentations and demonstrations, holistic testing, and post-sales technical support. He has been featured on stage as a presenter for several Esri User Conference plenary sessions.
Anthony is also an adjunct instructor at George Mason University, where he teaches Introduction to GIS and Geographic Theory & Analysis. Anthony received his Bachelors of Science in geography from The Pennsylvania State University in 2004.
